For all you mothers who insist on out doing each other - you win. I can't compete. I just want to know when all this happened. What happened to writing your friends name on a store bought Valentine, taping a heart shaped sucker to it and calling it good? This is what Bryce brought home from preschool:
I think we should all unite together and protest. Lets go back to being thoughtless and cheap.
Honestly - all of this isn't for the kids - it's for some mom's to make others feel inferior, or for those of us who lack the creative gene to make those with it feel better. You're welcome and congratulations creative mom's (and we all know who you are), you win... and next year could you include more chocolate in the kids gift bags and fewer sweethearts, I've got to comfort my hurt ego somehow.

That is pretty funny! Isn't that cheating...isn't the whole point of exchanging Valentines that your KID does the work? I agree, there are some people out there who just need to be told how awesomely cute everything they do is. I guess we just have more self esteem than them! :)
I agree and have decided that it doesn't matter what I do, other people will always go over board. So, I just don't let it bother me! Anna did her Valentines this year and we did exactly as you described...Anna wrote the kids names on all the cards and I taped a cheap sucker on the back. As I was with Anna in her Kindergarten class I realized that there are other Mom out there who did/do just as me and then there will ALWAYS be others Moms who go way over board. I hope to provide a nice balance. Anna didn't seem to care (at least not yet) so why over do myself?
AMEN sister. I totally agree. I defintely do not carry that creative gene and i am definintely in for the cheap and impersonal approach. So where do i sign your petition???

We did the store bought card and a heart sucker too. I just try not to care. Ains actually got a little foam decorated door hanger this year...what's up with that! It still went in the trash just like the rest of the store bought valentines when we were done with the candy!
It's so funny because I think it depends on where you live. This year Skyler got some nerds, some licorice & a WHOLE lot of suckers!!! We have had years when it was ridiculous though. Maybe the people here are less creative or just tired of all the time & work it takes to "keep up with the Jones." I'm all about keeping it simple!
